On the Road Again – Oldies At Large

I love visiting home and I hate it. It brings with it all those jobs, which non-home owners so much enjoy to miss. I’m not just talking only about the maintenance, the lawns and the gardening along with other responsibilities but calling in at home brings those pleasures that actually draw me home. Those pleasures, such as the gardening, the lawns and maintenance (especially the purchasing of new items). It also brings the family, those lifetime friends and your deep involvement in other peoples lives, which despite everything, is often a deep and personal pleasure.

Understanding Freecampers – An Aussie Lifestyle

It has been over a year since The Man and I moved permanently into our caravan, a mobile home that we hope to call home for a decade or more. We might change it, upgrade or downgrade but this will be in time. There has been much debate about freecamping in the social media, and as freecamping has become our way of life I thought it would be apt to explain just what, to us, freecamping is for those uninitiated who think we are merely avoiding handing over our hard won resources to caravan parks.

Freecamps, Reststops and Travellers in WA

We’re presently in Western Australia as most of my regular readers know. I have to admit to some trepidation as we approached the state a few months ago intending to freecamp and explore. In the years before we even got here we had heard of the predatory practices of some WA towns in regards to tourists and travellers and this certainly concerned us.

Visiting WA was not entirely an unknown, we have been here many times before. We have flown in, driven in and stayed for extended periods. I spent 3 months in Kalgoorlie and had a truly wonderful time and we have toured the SW corner on a number of occasions. We’ve explored Walpole, Albany (sorta) and many other places spending long hours in the beautiful tall forests and sandy beaches of the region. We couldn’t find anywhere to park in Esperance so we breezed through there as with many places.

When it’s Time to Take a Holiday – From Freecamping

We have been freecamping across two states for several weeks now. The camps have been a delight from Cairns to the Western Australian Border. Those who understand the Outback, who understand the Aussie perchance to tour and explore along the needs travellers have for simple comfort and survival, have ensured that there are rest areas, often well appointed.

The Gateway to the Frontier Territory – Camooweal

Having crossed the vast coloured ombre’ plains of a thousand ochre shades, we are now taking a moment to rest-up on the banks of the Georgina. We are at the top end and far West in the Gulf Country. Next we will be venturing into the central deserts of the Northern Territory though they are not deserts as you would imagine them. Savannah and grasslands of vast flood plains would better describe the land where we are headed.
